Abstract

Novel ways of detecting and studying distant galaxy clusters

Yen-Ting Lin (ASIAA)

We report preliminary results on our new idea of detecting distant clusters using data from the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) grizy broadband photometry.  It is a red sequence method that relies on the empirically derived restframe optical colors.  We further show a self-contained and self-consistent way of studying redshift evolution of cluster galaxy population that fully takes into account of the hierarchical structure growth, using the mass buildup of the brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) as a demonstration of the idea.
