Abstract

Modelling galaxies, dust and AGN with CIGALE

Denis Burgarella (Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille)

CIGALE is an evolving modeling and SED fitting code that uses physics-based modules to model the components of galaxies and their evolution in cosmic time.    In the recent years, we have included the possibility to use spectral features and we have now an X-ray module added to CIGALE. This X-ray module allows to take into account the X-ray emission and to better model AGN-dominated galaxies.  In a longer effort (Mathematics+Astrophysics PhD 2018 - 2021) in cooperation with a mathematician, we are presently developing a new version of CIGALE that will take full spectra along with photometry in the fits. This development makes use of Machine and Deep Learning and we are building a new mathematical method. However, this new CIGALE will keep the same structure than the present CIGALE, making it extremely fast and modular.   Finally, I will show some of our most recent works that uses CIGALE in the early universe.
